Reviews of Abodh Aras’ “My City, My Dogs”
Activist Abodh Aras’s ‘My City, My Dogs’ proves that street dogs aren’t ‘nameless creatures just hanging around’.
Some of Mumbai’s many stories reside with its stray dogs. A new picture book on our canine compatriots, gloriously named Tamatar or Periappa or Whiskey, tells us a lot about the city’s streeties – and a fair bit about us.
Animal activist Aras shares nine warm stories about Mumbai’s strays in his picture-cum-storybook. Photographs by Hashim Badani and illustrations by Sumedha Sah add insight and perspective to their daily life.
